I’m trying to write weekly recaps of each week of training, so I thought I better share with you what I’m going to try and run.
This is what my training plan looks like for the Hapalua Half Marathon, the race date is April 9th, 2017.
My goal? At the moment, my fitness isn’t feeling it. I’ve got my list of goals (I never go into a race with just one!)
- A Goal: To get a PR, so I’ll say a sub 1:55:00.
- B Goal: To get under 2 hours.
- C Goal: Just finish.
Ok. So, about those paces. I don’t know what I was on when I was thinking about them.
The 5k pace I’ve achieved, or almost, I think I was 7:57.
The 10k makes me laugh. I’ve never been close to that pace for a 10k.
And race pace. Oh my goodness. That’s been my 10k pace (I think), once, in the nice brisk temperatures of London. Not in the humidity that is Hawaii.
As you can see, I’m going for something different than with the Hanson’s Marathon Method. I’m running only 3 days a week, but I may do a few more miles if I feel like it. These 3 days are all, what Hanson’s calls, Something of Substance runs. They all have a purpose, they are meant to be tough. I’m also doing Kayla Itsines’ BBG, which is a resistance/strength training workout for 3 days.
With just a tad over two months to go, let’s see how I do!
