Week 8 of Marathon Training

Week 8!  I am pretty impressed with how well I have been following the Hansons Marathon Method training plan.  My legs are definitely starting to feel the mileage – it is the most I have ever ran consistently.  Let’s hope I can keep pushing myself.

Monday
6 miles at an easy pace(10:00min/mile average)

Tuesday
Speedwork: 6 x 800m, with 400m recovery. (6.5 miles, including 1 mile warm up, 1 mile cool down)
Splits: 4:03, 4:09, 3:59, 4:01, 4:11, 4:01

Wednesday
Rest day!

Thursday
5 mile tempo, with 1 mile warm up and 1 mile cool down. (9:08min/mile average)
Splits: 10:15, 8:49, 8:58, 8:51, 8:35, 8:44, 10:02
Strength exercises: 3x 10 push ups, 3x 15 tricep dips, 30 x jump lunges, 24 x knee ups

Friday
5 miles easy pace (9:57 min/mile average)

Saturday
6 miles easy pace (10:08 min/mile average)

Sunday
10 miles easy pace (9:33 min/mile average)

Total weekly miles: 40.5
