Week 6 of Marathon Training

My first week with speed work and tempo runs is complete!  A lot of running, but I actually felt pretty good the whole week.  Week 7 will be very similar mileage, so I am happy there isn’t another increase!

My miles for week 6:

4 miles at an easy pace(10:10min/mile average)

Speedwork: 12 x 400m, with 400m recovery. (8 miles, including 1 mile warm up, 1 mile cool down)
Splits: 1:59, 1:59, 1:59, 1:58, 1:56, 1:56, 1:57,1:54, 1:57, 1:55, 1:56, 1:52

Rest day!

5 mile tempo, with 1 mile warm up and 1 mile cool down. (9:05min/mile average)
Splits: 10:33, 8:48, 8:44, 8:38, 8:39, 8:29, 9:42

4 miles easy pace (9:59 min/mile average)
strength exercises: planks, push ups lunges

8 miles easy pace (9:54 min/mile average)
small amount of strength exercises: jump lunges, push ups etc

8 miles easy pace (9:42 min/mile average)

Total weekly miles: 39
