in the middle

I am officially in the middle of my Kayla Itsines workout program!  I haven’t been taking progress photos, as whenever I do I feel like it kind of puts me off.  I’m not sure why, it just does.  I cannot believe I have come so far.  I have ben fitting in the workouts while working full time.  I mean working at a minimum of 14 hours a day, 13 days a fortnight.  It has taken a lot of dedication, and a lot of getting up earlier than I have wanted to.  I’ve also had to put running on hold, as I can really only afford 30 minutes to workout.

However, I have really seen changes.  I’ve noticed my legs have gotten stronger.  I am excited for this, and I keeps me motivated – I know it will make me faster.  I am already feeling it.  My long run averaged around a 9:30min/mile for 10 miles, and I haven’t been running much!  I even threw in faster miles.  If only I could change my diet….

I have been living out of hotels for the past 5 weeks, that means constantly eating out – sounds like a dream!  I’m pretty good at choosing the healthy options, being vegetarian does help too, but it is dessert that kills me!  Dessert is so easy to eat and it is always offered!!  I should just say no!

Finally a long run!

it’s been two weeks since Ice had a decent run.  Actually, the more I think of it the more I am certain I have maybe one run under my belt since then. 

Today’s run was amazing.  I wasn’t sure how far I was going to go, but I decided just to go for it and see.  I am staying up at the beautiful town of Palm Cove, Qld, and it offers great places to run.  I explored new trails and beaches – it was perfect!  I was surprised to see my pace has not been  affected with my lack of running.  I even threw in three faster miles: 9:10, 9:00 and 8:40.  My average for the run was about 9:28 min/mile.

Even though I haven’t been running too much lately, I have been able to get in my BBG workouts.  This week I will be on to week 5!  It is a huge accomplishment that I have made it so far, given my job really does not give me much time off, and any time off I have I really enjoy sleeping!

Now I am recovering from my long run, I am sleepy but feel so content. 

Hopefully in the next two weeks I can fit in a few more runs!

Working hard

wow.  It has been a whirlwind few weeks.

I decided to give my body a break with a week off.  After that week I got sick with a horrible cold.  Then I flew to Australia to start my 7ish weeks of work (with only 3 days off, may I add!).  

I haven’t been able to get in too many runs, but I have been able to fit in my BBG workouts.  I’m starting week 3 this week.  I have a couple of runs under my belt, but not too many.  I am not too worried – I did run 7 miles this morning at about a 9:30 pace, so I am not losing any real fitness.  I think as long as I manage to fit in my BBG workouts and a couple of runs a week I will stay relatively fit.  

The good news is, working out makes me feel better.  It is tough to get out of bed, especially after a really long day of work, but I feel so much better for it.  It wakes me up and keeps me going for the day.  I just need to prioritize what I want to work on.  At the moment it is my strength training, that’s where the BBG comes in.  I don’t mind what days I do the workouts on, just as long as they get done!
